Jazz is the freedom of Art © Duke Ellington Als gerade 8-jähriger begann ich 1952 in der Musikschule dieses Instrument zu lernen. Mein Ehrgeiz war riesig und nach  einem Jahr durfte ich schon das erste Mal bei einem öffentlichen Konzert der Musikschule im Festsaal des Arbeiterheimes  einer Papierfabrik in einer Schülergruppe mitmusizieren und nach einigen Jahren schon in einem Duett auftreten. Im Laufe der nächsten Jahre erlernte ich noch Tenorhorn, Euphonium und Posaune sowie Schlagzeug. Ich verbrachte 4  Jahre bei der Militärmusik des Militärkommandos Burgenland unter Kapellmeister Oberst Josef Kotay und es wurde mir als  Militärmusiker ermöglicht, einige Jahre Fagott an der Akademie fuer Musik und darstellende Kunst zu studieren und in  einer Abendschule zu maturieren. Als Posaunist und Drummer spielte ich verschiedenen Jazz-Combos und Swing-Big Bands und als Fagottist in mehreren  Orchestern. In einem weiteren Bildungsweg wechselte ich bis zu meiner Pensionierung in die Informatik.   Zur Zeit beschäftige ich mich mit Musiktheorie, Komposition, experimentieller Musik, den Möglichkeiten des natürlichen  Zithersounds, bearbeite und pflege Musik aus vielen Genres für die Zither und suche Kontakte zur aktuellen Zither-Welt.                                                              In 1952 at the age of 8 years I started to learn the zither at a music school. I was enormously ambitious. After one year I  was allowed to play for the first time with a school music group at a public concert in the ballroom of a paper mill and a  few years later perform duets. Over the next few years I also learnt tenor horn, euphonium, trombone and drums. I then  spent four years playing military music of the Military Commando (?) in the province of Burgenland under its music  director, Colonel Josef Kotay and as a military musician I was able to study bassoon and graduated from an  evening music school. As a trombone player and drummer I then played with various jazz combos and swing big  bands and as bassoon player in several orchestras.  I then switched career direction to computers and spent my professional life in many different  areas of computer science until I retired in 2005. Currently I am working on music theory and experimental music. I am also involved in  researching all the tone qualities of the zither and compose, arrange and promote different  genres of zither music.
